How to Update the Browser on Your LG TV

Got an LG TV with an outdated browser? Don't worry! Here's a simple guide to help you get it updated and running smoothly.

Check for Software Updates

First, make sure your TV's software is up to date. Navigate to Settings > All Settings > Support > Software Update. If there’s an update available, download and install it. This often updates the built-in browser as well.

Update the Browser Manually

If the browser didn’t update along with the software, you might need to do it manually:

  1. Open the LG Content Store on your TV.
  2. Search for the browser and see if an update is available.
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to update the browser.

Consider Alternative Browsers

If updating the built-in browser isn't possible or you need more features, consider downloading an alternative browser. Popular options include Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox, available in the LG Content Store.

Clear Browser Cache

Sometimes, the lagging issue might be due to the browser cache. To clear it:

  • Open your TV browser.
  • Go to Settings within the browser.
  • Select Clear Cache and confirm.

Factory Reset as a Last Resort

If all else fails, a factory reset might be necessary. This will erase all your settings, so use it as a last resort:

  • Navigate to Settings > All Settings > General > Reset to Initial Settings.
  • Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the reset.

Keep Your LG TV Running Smoothly

Keeping your LG TV's browser up to date ensures smoother performance and better security. Follow these steps, and you’ll be back to browsing in no time!
