What to Do When Your Samsung TV Browser Becomes Outdated

It's frustrating when you're trying to stream or browse the web on your Samsung TV, only to find that the browser is outdated. But don't worry - there are several steps you can take to keep your TV running smoothly.

Update the Browser

The first step is to check if there’s an available update for the browser. Samsung regularly provides updates for its Smart TVs to enhance performance and add new features. Follow these steps:

  1. Press the Home button on your remote.
  2. Navigate to Settings.
  3. Select Support, then Software Update.
  4. Choose Update Now to begin the update process.

Clear Browser Cache

Sometimes, clearing the browser cache can resolve issues linked to outdated browsers:

  1. Open the browser on your Samsung TV.
  2. Access the Settings menu in the browser.
  3. Find and select Privacy & Security.
  4. Choose Clear Browsing Data.

Install Third-Party Browsers

If updating or clearing the cache doesn’t work, consider installing a third-party browser. Some popular options include Opera TV Browser and Puffin TV:

  1. Press the Home button on your remote.
  2. Go to Apps.
  3. Search for the browser you’d like to install.
  4. Select the app and click Install.

Use Casting or Mirroring

If all else fails, you can use screen mirroring or casting from another device like a smartphone, tablet, or computer. This way, you can use the browser on your device and view it on your TV screen:

  1. Ensure both the TV and the device are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
  2. Open the content you want to view on your device.
  3. Use the casting or mirroring feature to stream it to your Samsung TV.

Factory Reset

As a last resort, consider performing a factory reset. This can solve persistent issues but will remove all settings and apps:

  1. Press the Home button on your remote.
  2. Navigate to Settings.
  3. Choose Support, then Self Diagnosis.
  4. Select Reset and follow the on-screen instructions.

While it’s frustrating to deal with an outdated browser, these steps can help restore functionality to your Samsung TV. Remember to keep your software updated to prevent future issues.
